I just recently listened to an HBR Podcast by Sheryl Sandberg on how she had to develop resilience during a major crisis in her life. I was deeply impressed at her transparency and the ability to work through the pain by getting to the next right thing. Her insights on resilience are reflected in this post by Monica Thakrar:

Leadership team members benefited individually in professional development and the organization became more effective. Much less energy was devoted to non-productive interaction, resulting in better and more expedient decision making.

In summary, during a two year period, Dan led the leadership team through multiple dimensions of leadership development, including team building, succession planning and personal professional development of each member.
