I am always fighting the battle between time spent in development vs. time spent in actual delivery.  So much of the time spent in development feels like progress but it is not immediately producing results.  On the other hand, if you don’t have anything of value to give then all the connecting in the world is doomed for failure.  Ron Edmondson has some practical insight into this tension:

“When I was in business, I once owned of a small manufacturing company. Most of my time was spent in an office or on the road somewhere, but when I had time I loved to hang out in the factory, especially when delivery trucks dropped off merchandise.”
